July 2026 Update

There seems to be serious negotiations between the Irrigation Company and the municipalities of Pinetop-Lakeside and Show Low, but they are being conducted behind closed doors from the public. We hope that the discussions are highly productive and candid to promote their success. But it takes a lot of trust in the company and towns among the many close observers who have skin in the game---lake residents, irrigation users, and community advocates whose curiosity about the particulars of the discussions is heightened by the quiet.

As it stands now, PTL has moved its working study to August 25 at 6:00 PM at Town Hall. Talking  between the company and Show Low seems to be leading to an open meeting but it has not been announced yet, possibly because Show Low owns 1/3 of Show Low Lake and needs to factor in their separate water management needs from the Irrigation Company.

So for now, the next month and a half requires patience and trust from those of us not sitting at the decision tables. Those who are need to know that they are engaging in an historic regional planning process whose individual interests need to converge for the benefit of our greater community. We are the center of the White Mountains! Our lakes, climate and hills attract the investment of tourism dollars, summer homes, hunters and fishermen  in flocks, with the right forward thinking and action!
